Stand Up Tan Can How Does It Work

Homeopathy endangered (now I)

In early 2007, supporters of homeopathy launched a petition which headed this way:

was scary, right? According to these people (and I quote verbatim from the copy held here )

If no changes in the draft, the consequences may be:
- disappear all injectable ampoules,
- Will all the oral medications with more than one component if any component is a power of less than D4.
- Will all the preparations in D4 or less power.
- disappear all routes of administration other than oral or external
- The homeopathic in danger, mentioned above, must undergo a similar record to that of chemical drugs allopathic, a technically feasible lgo (3).

But, alas, it was a false alarm. As we back then, the dread decree, regarding homeopathy, was an almost verbatim copy RD 2208/1994, which regulates the licensing and registration of "medicines" homeopathic for more than a decade.

A year later, in 2008, the multinational Sisters of Mercy homeopathic launched a new campaign under the slogan "Yes Homeopathy, which still alive in the network . I met her when I received an alarming email which asked me urgently my signature on, I quote, a law to end homeopathy, but his goal was far more prosaic: as said then Web
platform

Dear friend,
The Ministry of Health wants to publish Ministerial Order clearly a negative for homeopathy as it is demand exorbitant rates for homeopathic medicines, are denied the possibility of incorporating pharmaceutical innovations and, ultimately, does not take into account the specificity of these drugs.
If approved as currently drafted, this Order may result a drastic reduction drugs currently available in the market, thereby limiting treatment options for conditions treated with these drugs, since allergies to nervousness child dermatitis and even in palliative care, where homeopathy is used to reduce side effects of conventional medication and improve quality of life of patients.

And that is the crux of the matter, as we have at the time was precisely this, that the Ministerial Order was going to make homeopathic laboratories to pay registration fees. And we can not say they would be forced to pay them like any other pharmaceutical company because it was not the case: in reality the rate for the use of "medicines" homeopathic is rather smaller than expected for conventional. But go, need the money (another thing is that someone is able to determine how many peels , as we mentioned in the entry, with the numbers did homeopathic laboratories, of course, impossible), and if caring industries homeopathic NGOs could save, it's better to the pockets of its shareholders, of course.

Well time passed, the Registration Act was passed (by holding the special treatment for homeopathic products, which are general exemption from the obligation to demonstrate its effectiveness ), and the draft Ministerial Order stayed in a drawer in a hidden instead of the Ministry of Health, so that companies philanthropic homeopathic still enjoy impunity and would tax any society for themselves.

And in these results that now comes news that it can certainly pose a serious and real threat to homeopathy, and we have no campaign, or signatures, or whining to get an exemption from payment of fees, no nothing. Les

story. As this article says ,

The Council of Europe seeks to counterfeit medicines
The Council of Europe has agreed to the first international regulation sought by the manufacturing, distribution and sale of counterfeit drugs.

Okay, you say, but homeopathic products, even of a joke, for legal purposes are drugs and therefore " true ", right? Well, technically yes, but we'll leave that issue for another day. What concerns us now is just the next sentence. Which says that

also act if products are launched that they have not obtained proper authorization, but not harmful [emphasis added] .

De hecho, en el documento de trabajo del Comité de Ministros del Consejo de Europa se propone lo siguiente:

Article 8 – Similar crimes involving threats to public health
Each Party shall take the necessary legislative and other measures to establish as offences under its domestic law, when committed intentionally, in so far as such an activity is not covered by Articles 5, 6 and 7:
     a. the manufacturing, the keeping in stock for supply, importing, exporting, supplying, offering to supply or placing on the market of:
       i. Without medical products WHERE Such Authorisation Authorisation is required under the domestic law of the Party;

[ Article 8 - similar offenses involving a risk to public health
Each Member State shall take legislative and other measures to establish as criminal offenses under their domestic law, when committed intentionally, and as these activities are not covered by Articles 5, 6 and 7:
a) Manufacture, storage distribution import, export, distribution, supply distribution or placing on the market: i.
Medical products without authorization when such authorization is necessary under the law of the Member State.]

remember that Spain, as a member state would be required to adopt such legislative measures, probably modifying the existing Article 360 \u200b\u200bof the Penal Code to include as a crime to sell drugs and not without doing the paperwork prior, as is clear from the wording today, but without having obtained the mandatory pre-market approval.

So let's get back to homeopathy. As suspected at the time , and as they came to confirm the Director of the English Agency for Medicines and Health Products and even representatives of the industry own charitable homeopathic , not one of homeopathic products sold in Spain has been authorized as a medicinal . Not one.

So now you know: go collecting signatures, mounting campaigns against the evil Council Europe and others. Even as a last resort, require for the competent authority to resolve once on the files you have on the table since 1994, but resigned to this I assume that most are rejected for being outlawed products, or even having to face the hard sacrifice to pay taxes like anybody else. Whatever.

But do it quickly. For if it prosper, that they "sell like homeopathic medicines really have crime" may cease to be a rhetorical expression and happen to have literal meaning.

PS: Thanks for the warning, Manuel.
